Eye Q Certification Marks

All service and trade marks associated with the Eye Q Certification Program are the property of the CLEVER Eye Institute. Commercial use of the marks for certification and advertising purposes is by permission only. Typically, a licensing contract grants limited permission to use the service mark for specific products during a specific period of time. Other restrictions may apply. Please contact us for details. We can often arrange for licensing using our standard contract.

Any unauthorized use of the certification service or trade marks, or similar marks intended to deceive the consumer, is strictly prohibited. Use of the service or trade marks for educational purposes is granted, provided the mark is not altered in any manner and the source of the mark is indicated as the CLEVER Eye Institute.

All requests for permission to use the marks for product labeling, advertising, or other commercial purposes should be directed to CLEVER Eye Institute through the website contact page or by use of the "Request Info" button located at the bottom of this page.

All package labeling applications of any of the marks shown below typically must include the words "Certified Eye Healthy by the CLEVER Eye Institute" somewhere on the exterior of product packaging or labeling (front, back or sides). While the mark is intended to communicate the eye healthy benefits of good nutrition, at no time should the mark be used to attribute or suggest any specific therapeutic benefits of a food product.

Multi-Color Eye Q Service Mark

This mark is intended for applications where full-color printing is available. The mark is available with or without an Eye Q score indicated. If an Eye Q score has been issued for a specific product, the score label option is typically used. The alternative multi-color badge version that does not display an Eye Q score is intended to refer to Eye Q food certification in general, and not to a specific food product. However, exceptions can be made, such as with the sale of bulk whole food items.

Version with an Eye Q Score shown:

The service mark version without a score indicated might be used for advertising multiple food products, such as in a grocer's produce section, or it might be used by food industry reporters to describe the appearance of the Eye Q certification label.

In the image below, an example is shown of the Eye Q service mark for labeling a specific, certified product:

The Eye Q service mark can also be used to indicate certification of foods intended to be grown at home. Below, we see the use of the multi-color label to identify a certified whole food product sold in the form of a seed packet. Note that in order to show a specific Eye Q score on the package, the serving size must be specified along with the service mark.

Customized variations of the badge are available depending on customer requirements. However, all variations require the use of a stylized eye shape with a central check mark. Additionally, the background badge shape with ribbon is intended to indicate a stylized letter Q. In addition, all custom marks must also include the wording "Certified Eye Healthy" and if an Eye Q score has been issued, the numerical value of the score must be shown on the mark.

One-Color Eye Q Service Mark

The one-color (monotone) service mark is intended for use where a multi-color mark is not possible either due to printing limitations or space limitations. The mark is the capital letter Q surrounding a stylized eye symbol with a central checkmark.

Here is an example of how the one-color certification mark may be used on a sign for fresh produce.
